And to our surprise, Microsoft has announced in an official blog post that Windows 8 will indeed have a dedicated app store to fulfill our appfull needs.

Although the speculation of an app store for the next gen Windows platform has been around for quite a while, but it was always taken as a rumor. But thankfully, Microsoft has official made it clear that Windows 8 will indeed have an app store from where users would be able to download apps, and games too if we’re lucky enough.

The announcement however was made on Microsoft official BUILD blog, which revolves completely around Windows 8, its development team and the way things are shaping up.

At this point, the news about Windows 8 having an app store is quite new, therefore not much is known about it, and how will it function, what it will look like, and other things like that.

But the thing is; the idea of having an app store for an operating system is not new. If I’m not wrong here, and I’m sure I’m probably not, Linux has had a hub for downloading apps for many years now! Then Apple followed the trend and brought the Mac App Store to the Mac for downloading apps and games, and now Microsoft is simply following the footsteps. Surprised? We aren’t either. Let’s just hope that Apple doesn’t throw in a lawsuit against Microsoft for using the generic name as they call it; app store.
